My name is Emily Pruyn. I grew up in the midwest in Chicago and fell in love with both fresh and salt water when I was a kid. I feel at home in the water.

Anatomy of a Wave is dedicated to sharing the beauty of the water - from the small moments like a ripple - to awe inspiring moments with big waves. I also love showcasing the surrounding horizon on the waterfront - particularly in Chicago, where we are so lucky to have gorgeous beaches right next to the downtown of our city.

My favorite thing to capture is the moment the sun is setting and you can see flashes of gold peaking through the wave, just under the lip.
